Tips to survive and succeed at PCC

Get connected
• Complete the union membership application and mail it in. Membership allows you to vote on issues affecting your workplace. Click here for a membership application.
• Communicate with the union representative at your site. Click here for a list of Federation Representatives.
• Attend union events like the summer picnic or attend an executive council meeting. Get involved with the PCC community.

Improve your job security
• Read about assignment rights. Click here to read about assignment rights in Article 4 of the contract.
• Ask your department chair for a copy of the assessment criteria to be used in your evaluation. Click here to read Article 7.28 in the contract.
• Have a professional development plan.

Learn about benefits available for part-time faculty
• If you work over half-time (usually 24 credits a year), you become eligible for group health insurance. Faculty not eligible to receive group coverage may still qualify for a reimbursement for purchasing a health insurance policy. Click here for health insurance details.
• You are eligible for the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) pension plan if you teach a little over half-time (usually 27 credits a year). Click here for more information on PERS.
• Learn about the equity issues that impact part-time faculty. Click here for information on the Faculty and College Excellence Act (FACE).

Get help before you need it
• Bring issues of concern to your Federation Representative.
